"Leanne
Kelman worked with us on the creation of 60 groundbreaking new wine and landscape maps for the 700-page book Inside Bordeaux,
published Spring 2020. Several of these maps are printed in ‘gatefold’ form, with the content ranging from
detailed topographic maps via large-scale vineyard plans to very intricate soil maps displaying multiple colours
and patterns. This was a three-year project,
and the maps included a set of geology and soil maps that use previously-unpublished research data (for once, ‘groundbreaking'
is exactly the right word). The nature of the maps and the briefs meant that considerable interpretation was involved,
with multiple sets of amends and frequent addition of new material. Leanne worked with our cartographic editor and with
the scientific consultants, the art director and the author to resolve often contradictory requirements.
The resulting maps have been praised by reviewers and readers, and are
being used by the academic staff of the Bordeaux Advanced Wine Studies Institute to teach students.
Leanne is already at work with us on a new book in the same series, and
we would warmly recommend her to anyone needing cartographic skills – hoping, though, that she gives us first
call on her services."

"Leanne Kelman drew the wonderful maps for Inside Bordeaux, a
book on the Bordeaux wine region that I spent three years writing, published in 2020. The maps have elevated the entire
book, and I'm delighted with them every time I open it! They manage to present complicated concepts of terroir and appellation
in an extremely clear and beautifully designed format, and are a pleasure to use."
